With the turn of the shovel, the long-discussed CobblestoneHotel will soon become a reality.
About 30 people came out for the official groundbreaking on Oct. 12 at 575 Bass Road, on the hill above Burger King.
“This is a fantastic project,” Mayor Rui Perreira told those in attendance. “I want to thank Jerry and Lurline Hammer (the landowners) for sticking with us and staying positive about this project. An investment group has come together that has held with us as we have worked through a number of challenges over the last couple of years. I also want to thank our staff for working together with Jerry to help make this project come together. This is a $12 million investment into a small community like Wickenburg. It’s going to reap rewards for more many, many years to come.”
