Congratulations to Rose Law Group Metaverse Planning & Design Director Eduardo Dávalos and his team! A project they made to improve privacy within the Web3 ecosystem was selected among the top 10 from more than 220 projects submitted at the ETHBogota Hackathon hosted by ETHGlobal. More than 1000 people attended.
The team also won a prize for IPFS, which is for file storage. Dávalos and his team used Aztec tools to mint an NFT collection completely anonymously. This privacy layer allows an NFT collection to be minted without anyone knowing who did it or how much was paid for it. Brilliant! Way to go Eduardo and team!
“My project “diZKreet” uses Aztec layer 2 network to enable full privacy when an NFT is minted. We don’t need everyone to keep track of every single step we make with our financial decisions , Aztec uses Zero Knowledge proof rollups to make this possible,” said Dávalos.
“To prove this concept we created an NFT collection called the ZKunks, which can be minted through Aztec and enable anonymity for those who buy. The blockchain will record that someone minted through Aztec, but nobody will ever know who it was until it is brought down to the eth-mainnet.”
Dávalos says he was in a very well rounded team with incredible personalities in it including:
- Meir Bank, US Backend Developer
- Orpheus, Canada Backend Developer
- Roy Sandoval, Front End Developer
- Ben Lakoff, Product Developer
Project Description
Privacy has become one of the most important aspects of web 3 development, today it is clear that not everything in the blockchain has to be public and fully traceable. Aztec offers a set of tools to ensure individuals’ privacy across the Ethereum blockchain. For this project we created a ZK Rollup bridge to enable minting NFT collections in an anonymous and private way, in which Eth mainnet will record that someone on Aztec bought the NFT, but nobody will know who did it, until it is redeemed on Eth Mainnet. While the NFT remains in the Rollup Bridge Contract, the owner of the NFT will have a virtual zkNFT. This zkNFT can be swapped and traded privately, or redeemed back to ETH Mainnet for the NFT out of the Bridge Contract. Our zkNFT Shielding bridge is fully compatible with any ERC-721 NFT on Ethereum. Any NFT can now have private purchases with diZKreet.
How it’s Made
This project uses Aztec ZK Rollup to create a custom ZK Shielding bridge. We are used the Aztec ZK SDK to create the secure frontend. All NFT Metadata and images were stored on IPFS using web3.storage. We used Ethereum as the base chain for securing digital assets. We used the Openzeppelin NFT contract to create a secure and robust Zkunk NFT.
