Some projects in Peoria that have been in the works for years, moving in stops and starts, are among the high-profile projects that are slated to begin in 2023.
The city has long been searching for a redevelopment plan for the parking lot of the Peoria Sports Complex, a 17-acre site near the growing entertainment district.
Now, that hope is expected to come to fruition, with development on the first phase expected to begin in mid-2023 on Stadium Point, which will include apartments, office buildings, hotels and restaurants near 83rd Avenue south of Bell Road.
Peoria also approved a development agreement that will bring new restaurants and retail to five city sites in Old Town Peoria, an area where the city has been wanting to focus new development to revitalize the downtown.
Developments slated for Peoria include:
- Stadium Point @ P83 will be located on 17 acres of land adjacent to the Peoria Sports Complex. The first phase planned to be built will be a 400-unit, market-rate apartment complex, and later phases will include at least 400,000 square feet of office space, a 200-room hotel and 30,000 square feet of dining. The apartment piece is expected to begin construction in mid-2023, and the next phases will begin later.
- Also around the P83 entertainment district, new restaurants are in the works. Upward Projects’ Postino WineCafe will be part of a 2.66-acre project to be developed by Phoenix-based Common Bond Development. The project will also include additional restaurant space. Hash Kitchen is also nearing the opening of a location in P83. Hiring has begun and the restaurant is planning an opening date in the beginning of 2023.
