Monse and Erick met in 2014, while they were studying medicine. Erick says, “I literally had a crush from the moment I saw her… her eyes, her smile, her hair.”

The couple has been practically inseparable ever since, and it felt only natural for them to take the next step… getting married in the metaverse on Valentine’s Day, 2023.

“We came up with this crazy idea as a way to do everything together and to continue joining each other in all adventures possible,” said Erick. Meta-marriages are becoming a world-wide sensation and dozens of publications have said it to be one of the most innovative uses of the crypto space.

The permanent nature of block-chain technology is translating to a new legal landscape. The ‘transaction’ binds digital identities, assets and can include NFTs that serve as marriage licenses and nuptial agreements. With digital assets being estimated in the billions, it’s likely the future of cryptocurrency and virtual reality relationships will come to rely on web3 legal services, such as the ones provided by a team out of Scottsdale, AZ.

Rose Law Group Director of Metaverse Planning and Design Eduardo Dávalos designed Erick and Monse’s Parisian dream venue in the firm’s Decentraland property and also officiated the ceremony. “That was new for me,” he said he didn’t see coming. “This was such a unique and memorable way to spend the holiday. We’re eager to do more of these,” he said.
