Opinion: A new poll shows Gov. Katie Hobbs is building a decent level of support among voters. The GOP-run Arizona Legislature should take that as a warning.

As Arizona’s Republican legislators continue marching forth attacking teachers, banning books, belittling Gov. Katie Hobbs and in general doing whatever it takes to try to maintain their slipping grip on the state, here’s a warning they might want consider.
A new public opinion poll shows Hobbs is building a decent level of support.
The OH Predictive Insights poll shows that 43% of Arizona voters approve of the job she’s doing while only 30% disapprove, with the rest taking a wait-and-see approach.
Put another way, among those who have formed an opinion about Hobbs’ performance thus far, she’s up 13%.
“Starting out of the gate, she’s in a good position,” pollster Mike Noble told me. “Republicans would be wise to know that they’re not in a very high leverage position when it comes to Hobbs.”

You certainly wouldn’t know that from the way they’re acting, passing bill after bill on party line votes, proposals that seem more an attempt to pad their political resumes than to move the state forward.
Noble didn’t poll voters on their view of the GOP-run Legislature.
I’m going to make a wild guess here that Hobbs looks like Miss Popularity when compared to the culture warriors who are now in Month 3 of wasting time – with the clock ticking until state government will have to be shuttered on July 1.
