Lucid Motors cutting 1,300 employees

By Jodie Newell | Pinal Central

CASA GRANDE — Lucid Motors announced Tuesday a “reduction plan” involving about 1,300 employees, or 18% of the current workforce.

The company made the announcement via a regulatory Form 8-K delivered to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

It remains unclear as to how many of those employee cuts will apply to the company’s only manufacturing plant, in Casa Grande. A company media spokesperson told PinalCentral that they did not have “any further information to share at this time other than what we announced yesterday.”

Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland told PinalCentral he is disappointed with the news but remained extremely positive about the company’s future in Casa Grande.

“Obviously this is not good news,” remarked McFarland, but he said the city will support Lucid and the affected employees as best they can.  “I am confident that they will come through this reorganization stronger than before.”
