Mayors ask for Arizona ballot measure on Prop 400 extension

As the 2023 Arizona legislative session winds down, debates to extend Proposition 400, a half-cent sales tax for road, bus and light rail projects are heating up.

Though a bill that would extend the half-cent sales tax failed this session, city officials in the Phoenix metro are urging lawmakers to approve legislation this year that would allow the measure to go to a public vote.
