FLORENCE — The Pinal County Board of Supervisors narrowly approved a 225-unit apartment complex amid traffic and other concerns and more warmly welcomed a new commercial development, both in San Tan Valley.
The board voted 3-2 in favor of a minor amendment to its San Tan Valley Special Area Plan to allow the Elux at Ocotillo complex of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments on 24 acres at the northwest corner of Ocotillo and Kenworthy roads. It voted 4-1 in favor of a rezoning from Suburban Ranch to Multiple Residence. The board unanimously approved a planned area development.
Board Chairman Jeff Serdy, R-Apache Junction, voted no on the first two items. He said he agreed with many of the neighbors who spoke against the apartments at Wednesday’s meeting, noting he had difficulty of his own in that area the previous day.
