Despite objections from the public, the Coolidge City Council on April 10 approved rezoning for about 70 acres for three projects by Edgewood Development.
The parcels, located at the southeast corner of Coolidge Avenue and Ninth Street, would consist of condominiums, commercial space and rental housing and would be built at the same time.
One concern from the public was the close proximity to West Elementary School on Coolidge Avenue.
Resident Diane Bohuszewicz said she had a lot of concerns, especially with an elementary school being across the road, thinking students after school would be in danger when crossing the road and not using the crosswalk.
