The battle over cutting down the Sisso trees in the upscale Arcadia at Silverleaf neighborhood is already in the Maricopa County Superior Court system but things are starting to get really ugly, according to one resident who does not want his trees cut down.
“It’s getting pretty hairy out here,” said Tom LaPorte a homeowner in the neighborhood, which is part of the larger DC Ranch subdivision.
The DC Ranch Home Owners Association wants to cut down all the Sisso trees in the neighborhood because of their roots’ tendency do things like destroy water pipes and rip up sidewalks.
But some homeowners, like LaPorte, have sued the homeowners’ association to stop them.
The two sides went into mediation, which failed, so the court ruled the association could remove the trees on properties where the homeowner requested it be done — which is about a third of the roughly 123 properties in the neighborhood, according to LaPorte.
But that’s where things are “getting pretty hairy.”
