Land west of Falcon Field Airport should be rezoned to light industrial with a planned area development overlay for an industrial development, the Mesa Planning and Zoning Board decided recently.

The board on May 24 voted 5-0 on a consent agenda with other items to recommend that the City Council approve a site plan for Western Semi Solutions and rezoning for the 5.7-acre property west of Greenfield Road and north of McDowell Road. Absent were board members Genessee Montes and Troy Peterson.

The site, which is vacant, is zoned light industrial. Access will be from McDowell Road, Planner Kwasi Abebrese said at a study session prior to the meeting.

“The proposed site plan shows the development of an approximately 78,449-square-foot industrial building. It includes truck docks and a loading area that will be located on the west side of the building. It will be screened with an eight-foot-tall masonry wall from public view,” he said.

Glenn Klipfel of ADM Group Inc. is the applicant. Stephen M. Javinett Living Trust, is the owner.
