Meritage buys in North Carolina

An Arizona homebuilder with a national footprint is planning nearly 150 new homes in Durham, North Carolina, after buying the lots from a Raleigh builder.

Scottsdale-based Meritage Homes (NYSE: MTH) paid almost $6 million for the lots to Marlowe Builders. Marlowe made a hefty profit on the deal. The firm bought the vacant property in 2010 for $350,000 from SunTrust Bank (now Truist).
