NHL Commissioner: Coyotes arena situation ‘on verge’ of being resolved

National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman has had more than his share of concerns overseeing the ups and downs of the Arizona Coyotes franchise since the team relocated from Winnipeg back in 1996.

While the team continues its search for a permanent home in the desert, after voters earlier this year rejected the proposal by owner Alex Meruelo to build a huge entertainment complex in Tempe, Meruelo surprised fans of the NHL team by his recent announcement that he would build an arena and entertainment district in Reno, Nevada, where the University of Nevada is looking at using the 10,000-seat arena for its home games.
