Heritage District building wins panel’s approval

It was thumbs up last week for a four-story building with a rooftop bar proposed in the Heritage District after it was initially rejected two years ago for being too tall.

The Redevelopment Commission Nov. 15 voted 4-0 to approve the site plan and drawings for The Brundrett Building on three vacant parcels on Gilbert Road south of Page Avenue. The site is located between Norwood Furniture, owned by the Brundrett Family, and the Farmhouse Restaurant.

“What I’m really happy about is that we didn’t hear much about height,” Chairman Casey Kendel said. “I know that throughout the iterations of this building and the various designs that we saw height was an issue.
