Glendale approves sweeping development code update

Following four years of discussions and revisions, the Glendale City Council decided not to let perfect be the enemy of good.

By a 7-0 vote at its Dec. 12 meeting, the council enacted a unified development code that replaces the existing Glendale zoning ordinance — adopted in 1993 — in its entirety.

Councilman Bart Turner and an 18-year-old resident brought up objections to sections of the UDC, but all council members agreed it was better to enact the new code now and have hearings on individual areas of discontent soon.
