One of two familiar faces will be the next mayor of Paradise Valley.
Vice Mayor Mark Stanton and Council Member Anna Thomasson are facing each other in a runoff in the Nov. 5 general election.
Neither candidate received the majority of votes in the three-way primary race. Thomasson garnered 1,747 votes, or 46.31%, Stanton scored 1,453 votes, or 38.52%, and Mary Hamway received 572 votes or 15.16%.
Mayor Jerry Bien-Willner opted not to run for a fourth term. The positions of mayor and council members are non-paid.
The Paradise Valley Independent sent the candidates a questionnaire asking about their plans for the town. Here are the candidates’ answers:
Mark Stanton
Stanton is serving his third term as a council member after first having been elected in 2014.
Stanton worked in several leadership positions in the public relations and marketing sector before opening his own firm. He currently serves as president and CEO of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce.
