Big lots in Queen Creek area
Also Wednesday, the board agreed to abandon the Goldmine Mountain Estates planned area development overlay on two non-contiguous parcels totaling 105 acres north of Queen Creek. This reverts the land to the underlying General Rural zoning.
Supervisor Jeff Serdy, R-Apache Junction, commented that in all his time in elected office, “I’ve never seen a project where they actually wanted less (housing) density.”
Attorney Jordan Rose told the board it’s because the property was sold and there are nine owners, including one who wants to build on 40 acres “and bring his whole family there. There are people who want to just set up very large lots; you can see the beauty of the site.”
