Annexation will bring commercial property to Queen Creek

By Janet Perez | YourValley

A 2-acre site at Power and Chandler Heights roads has been annexed by the town and a multi-tenant commercial building is being proposed for the land.

The Queen Creek Town Council unanimously approved annexing the Maricopa County land during its Dec. 18 meeting. The item was part of the council’s agenda, which is voted on with one motion and vote.

The parcel is approximately 297 feet west of the northwest corner of Power and Chandler Heights roads.

The land originally was zoned by the county as RU-43, which allows one residential dwelling per lot. In October 2023, the property was rezoned as commercial, and in June 2024 an annexation request was filed with the town.

“In accordance with state statutes, when a property is annexed into a municipality’s jurisdiction, it must be granted equivalent zoning in the municipality that it was assigned in the county,” according to a council staff document.
