Battle over Scottsdale signatures gets ugly for Axon petition

By AZ Family

The battle over signatures for a petition to put the city council-approved Axon development on the ballot is getting ugly.

The Taxpayers Against Awful Zoning Exemptions (TAAAZE), a, political action committee, reports it’s collected 12,000 signatures out of the needed 15,000+ for the Dec. 21 deadline.

The PAC is trying to block the local company’s proposed headquarters and housing development.

Axon sells technology to law enforcement and the military and wants to build 1900+ apartment/condo units on the lot on Loop 101 and Hayden. Critics are concerned about the traffic and density it would bring to the city.

Scottsdale residents may see some confrontation between the two groups over signatures.

This past Thursday, Scottsdale Police said a Basha’s employee called about a man who was reportedly aggressive toward customers while trying to get them to sign the Axon petition.
