Casa Grande to regulate short-term rentals

By Jodie Newell | Pinal Central

CASA GRANDE — The city is implementing an ordinance effective on Jan. 1 to regulate short-term rentals, which typically are on offer on Airbnb, Vrbo and Homestay.

In October the City Council approved the measure aimed at ensuring property owners have appropriate liability insurance, are tax compliant, possess relevant permits and have mechanisms in place for guest background checks.

City Management Analyst Robert Aldous told PinalCentral the new ordinance will apply to over 100 properties that currently operate in Casa Grande. He said the aim of the new law is to ensure rental owners operate appropriately and do not pose problems in the area with noise, nuisances or other activities that may not comply with city zoning requirements.
