Another swath of land has been bought in Peoria via a state land auction.
This time it was homebuilder Shea Homes who purchased 280 acres for $46.89 million on Nov. 25, at the northeast corner of Dixileta Road and the Litchfield Road alignment.
Shea Homes was the lone bidder.
The land is currently zoned suburban ranch, which allows for 1-acre minimum lot size.
Planning Director Chris Jacques said Shea Homes likely will apply to rezone the property to be in alignment with the underlying general plan designations of traditional residential and estate residential, which would allow for a density range of two to five units per acre and up to two units per acre, respectively.
Both general plan designations provide for single-family residential land use with corresponding densities and character that are similar to the adjacent community of Vistancia, Jacques said.
