Breaking: Nikola files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Nikola (Nasdaq: NKLA) on Feb. 19 filed the voluntary petition for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, seeking authorization for an auction or sale of its assets.

Nikola filed a number of first day motions with the court to ensure its operations can continue during the sale and asset auction process, including support operations for its battery electric trucks in the field and HYLA fueling operations through March. A hearing regarding the first day motions has been scheduled for Feb. 20.
