Arts amendments proposed for Maricopa building codes

The city of Maricopa floated the idea of updating their building codes at the Future Planning meeting this month with the goal of providing a touch of culture and beautification to otherwise drab buildings.

The city’s Development Services Director Rudolph Lopez gave a presentation during the Quality of Life section of the Future planning meeting. He spoke of his desire for less plain walls in developments and the implementation of more creative elements and beautification at businesses across the city.

From plants to sculptures and murals, Lopez presented a wide range of opportunities to improve Maricopa’s aesthetics across the board, putting the challenge of developing pleasing new buildings and features in both form and function to the developers building out Maricopa.
