Community opposition to an apartment proposal in north Peoria appears to have won out, as the developer has removed its application.

The application going through Peoria’s Planning and Zoning Department last year sought to rezone 21 acres at the northeast corner of Lake Pleasant Parkway and Jomax Road from general agricultural to a planned-area development to facilitate a gated, 179-unit multifamily residential community known as Prestige Homes.

Applicant Michael Maerowitz, from Phoenix-based law firm Snell & Wilmer, formally withdrew the application Dec. 12, 2024.
