CASA GRANDE — Mining company Ivanhoe Electric Inc. has announced the completion of a preliminary feasibility study regarding the Santa Cruz Copper Project near Gila Bend Highway between Montgomery and Russell roads.
According to a company press statement the preliminary study “confirms the strong economics of a high-quality, high-grade underground copper mining operation and heap leach processing facility supported by modern technologies.”
Highlights emerging from the feasibility study point to a 23-year life span for the mine, with probable high-grade mineral reserves of 136 million metric tons at a grade of 1.08% copper totaling 1.5 million metric tons of contained copper. Since commencement of exploration at the Santa Cruz Copper Project in 2021, Ivanhoe Electric has completed 329 drill holes totaling 279,000 meters.
