Thousands of acres of Prescott open space protected from city sale

Voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 484, or the Open Space Amendment, during the Prescott Primary Election on Aug. 5. It passed with 12,925 yes votes, equating to 76.76% of the vote as of 5 p.m. Aug. 6.

The proposition will amend Article VIII, Section 12 of the Prescott City Charter to prohibit the sale, lease, or transfer of several city-owned properties. It would require these properties to be retained by the city with use limitations that conform with pre-existing use.
