When Jenn Duff moved to downtown Mesa in 2009, she recalled it was pretty quiet and that she was able to walk and bike everywhere.
However, over time the downtown grew and so did its density.
“I find myself more walking and not biking,” said Councilwoman Duff, who represents the area. “Because I’m not confident about the biking here.”
The city aims to change that with its Downtown Mesa Micromobility and Parking Plan that proposes a number of fixes, including removing unnecessary turn lanes, replacing lights with stop signs and adding more lanes for micromobility vehicles such as e-scooters, e-bikes and traditional bicycles.
