Rapid population and job growth in Goodyear is increasing demand for multifamily housing, city officials say, as the West Valley city works to modernize its zoning rules to better manage development.
More than 13,000 jobs have been added in Goodyear over the past five years, drawing new residents and increasing the need for a wider range of housing options, according to a report on the Arizona Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment.
Multifamily housing, including apartments, makes up about 18% of all homes in Goodyear, and vacancy rates remain low.
