Fontes outraises, outspends Kolodin ahead of Secretary of State election

Incumbent Secretary of State Adrian Fontes ended the year outraising and outspending his Republican rival Rep. Alex Kolodin by about $180,000, ending with the highest cash on hand heading into the election year. 

In the last quarter, Fontes brought in a total of $234,891, with $196,290 coming from individual donors and $15,000 coming from political action committees. 

Fontes received early support from the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters Legislative Improvement Committee, the Salt River Valley Water Users Association, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers Local 359 PAC, and Keeping Arizonans Together and Engaged, or KATE PAC, headed by Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. 

Fontes’ campaign spent about $131,695 last quarter and ended the year with $460,764. 

Kolodin raised a total of $55,154, with $51,148 coming from individual donors and $5,500 coming from the Rim County Republican Club. Kolodin also has about $194,673 in outstanding loans.
