Shaping the Next Generation of Business Leaders
It was a pleasure to host the Tempe Chamber of Commerce’s Next Gen Business Fellows at our most recent Board meeting. This group of exceptional young leaders got to see government in action and learn about how business and government often work hand in hand. I presented these students with certificates to honor their achievements in this program. I look forward to watching these students grow in their careers!
D2 Highlights
Maricopa County Attorney’s Office Scams and Frauds Event in Las Sendas
Thank you to Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell for inviting me to speak at the recent Scams and Frauds event her team hosted in my district. Attendees heard from speakers including Credit Unions and the Federal Bureau of Investigation about ways they can spot and prevent fraud. Public safety is my top priority and informing residents of ongoing scams and ways to protect themselves is an important part of keeping residents safe.
My Quarterly Housing Roundtable
I began conducting a quarterly roundtable on housing issues in September 2024 and it remains one of the most informative meetings I regularly host. It’s crucial to learn from our key stakeholders, ranging from builders to buyers, about what concerns and progress they see when it comes to attainable housing. It remains clear that Maricopa County’s overhauled zoning ordinance leads the way for building smarter.
Visiting the Maricopa County Small Business Development Center
Thank you to the Maricopa County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Arizona APEX Accelerator for opening your doors to my team this month. SBDC and APEX are two of the best kept secrets in the business development world. These two organizations help businesses, small and large, with everything from getting started to scaling up, from connecting with the right workforce to securing contracts. Business owners can learn more by clicking here.
Easter Egg Hunt and Family Fair at the Arizona Boardwalk
My District 2 team spent time at the Arizona Boardwalk in Scottsdale over Easter weekend. They met many of you and, as always, offered free bracelet making for kids. It’s always great to meet our D2 constituents!
Carefree’s Earth Day Festival
It was another great year at Carefree’s annual Earth Day festival! Maricopa County was well represented. In addition to our booth, Maricopa County Parks and the Judicial System were also in attendance. Plus, it’s always great to see Carefree’s Mayor Crane!
Looking for a New Member of the Merit Systems Commission!

Welcome to Scottsdale, Din Tai Fung!
This may be one of the most anticipated grand openings of the year in District 2! This month, Din Tai Fung’s first Arizona location opened at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Lighting Our Administrative Building to Honor Fallen Fire Fighters
Keep an eye on Maricopa County’s Administrative Building in downtown Phoenix from April 26 through May 3.
