Once used as a railroad site, the City of Yuma has for quite some time been developing a concept for Old Town South as part of its Innovation District. The district is an extension of Main Street and will identify vacant properties for revitalization.
“The idea was to attract tech industry and academics for education and workforce development,” said Alyssa Linville, director of planning and neighborhood services.
The properties are zoned for mixed use, and the city will notify academic institutions and other industries about the opportunity.
The land was identified and adopted as a revitalization area in 1983. Brownfield assessments were also completed in 2012 and 2016.
