New charter opens on Arizona Athletic Grounds

A student-athlete’s dream school is opening this fall in Mesa.

NEWS Point Academy at Arizona Athletic Grounds is a tuition-free charter high school where rigorous college-prep academics meet state-of-the-art sports facilities.

The school will open this fall, serving grades nine and ten with plans to grow into a full four-year high school. It is now admitting students for the 2026-2027 school year and celebrated its launch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was recently sponsored by the Queen Creek and Mesa Chambers of Commerce, supporting partners of the school along with Apex Network Physical Therapy and Arizona Athletic Grounds.

NEWS Point Academy will have a founding student body of around 150 to 200 students. As enrollment grows, the school will add more classrooms and office space to its current building — possibly expanding on the Arizona Athletic Grounds in the future.

All students will have full access to Arizona Athletic Grounds facilities, including fields for soccer, baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball.

That access is built directly into the school day, through the sports and leadership class — a 90-minute block of athletic training that entails sport-specific training, leadership development and performance tracking.
