Peoria mayor marks final ‘State of the City.’

Since his election in 2022, Jason Beck has been on a mission to better Peoria.

This mission, set to come to an end this year as the incumbent mayor has decided not to seek reelection in 2026, has brought an abundance of business opportunities, relationships and a plan that can help the city continue to grow even after he leaves office.

There was a sense of finality in the air at Christ’s Church of the Valley on April 22, however.

The 2026 State of the City — Mayor Jason Beck’s fourth and final — was equal parts celebration and capstone, a moment for Peoria to take stock of what it has built and where it is headed next.

“We are going to look back on all of the promises made and promises kept by your City Council and your city leadership,” said emcee Andrea Robinson, who set the tone for an evening of reflection and sustained applause.
