Legislative referrals aimed at elections, union organization, transgender rights, and diversity, equity and inclusion will now have to survive litigation to make it on the ballot.
Beyond the ESA military families challenge, four other lawsuits now aim to strike down lawmakers’ proposals before they reach voters this November.
House Concurrent Resolution 2001, or the Fast Accurate Secure Transparent, or FAST, Election Results Act, is a comprehensive voting measure that requires voters to show ID, mandates they be citizens, allows for vote tabulation on site and prohibits foreign nationals from contributing to state elections.
In his complaint, Tempe City Councilmember Randy Keating claims the “Frankenstein nature” of the act violates the separate amendment rule by grouping several distinct election questions under one measure.
