While the country celebrated the nation’s 250th birthday, the town of San Tan Valley celebrated a birthday of its own, as the community came together for the STV Community Festival. The spectacle not only featured the glamor of the 4th of July but recognized and honored San Tan Valley officially becoming a town.
While voters approved the incorporation of the town in 2025, Pinal County was still maintaining operational control while the people and policies were put in place to allow for independent local rule. That ended on July 1, as the town was officially incorporated.
“It is an incredible night, it is a night 20 years in the making,” San Tan Valley Vice Mayor Tyler Hudgins said. “There have been multiple incorporation efforts to get us here and we have finally done it.
“We have a town council and a staff that have been working tremendously hard to get to our Operational Independence Day. We’ve been at it for nine months and that is not an easy feat for a community of over 100,000, but we are doing this because we care about San Tan Valley and want to see it succeed.”
The event featured local business vendors, food trucks, speeches from councilmembers and a special drone show after sunset.
