Builders, businesses react to feds’ move on Colorado River water

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation on Friday issued its long-awaited operational guidelines and strategies for Lake Powell and Lake Mead, but water experts say there’s still no official water reduction plan in place.

“To me, all we’ve got is a decision framework. It’s not a proposal. It’s not a plan. It’s basically their framework for how they’re going to operate,” said Sarah Porter, director of the Kyl Center for Water Policy at Arizona State University. “What we have is continued uncertainty.”
