It’s tempting to write that for months, Crown Realty and Development has held countless meetings and made several compromises in an effort to make a Mountain Shadows out of a molehill. The problem is, that comparison does a disservice to molehills everywhere.
Last Thursday’s long-delayed Paradise Valley Town Council vote to approve Crown’s redevelopment plans for the long-shuttered resort — which has fallen into a moldy and mouse-infested state of disrepair — should have been a resounding victory for both the town and a development group that has made numerous and meaningful adaptations to its original plans in an effort to accommodate the wishes of nearby homeowners.
Some residents, however, still fear the current plans — which would bring at least a 100-room boutique resort to the site while retaining its popular golf course and driving range — would substantially lower their property values.
