ASU, NAU cancel spring break in effort to slow spread of COVID-19

Arizona State University will not be having a spring break in 2021, according to an email Provost Mark Searle sent Thursday.

Searle said the adjustment to the calendar is to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Traditionally, many ASU students travel to Cabo San Lucas or Rocky Point, Mexico through travel agencies such as Just College, a travel agency geared toward college spring breakers.

ASU canceled fall break in October and ended in-person courses early after Thanksgiving break for the same reason.

Northern Arizona University also canceled spring break and the University of Arizona added “reading days” in place of spring break, which offers days off sporadically throughout the semester.
