The U.S. Department of Justice announced in a press release Thursday that it is investigating Arizona State University over its diversity, equity and inclusion practices.
According to the press release sent Wednesday, the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, recent “viral videos” indicated that “ASU denied equal treatment to students based on race, color, or national origin — while attempting to hide its discriminatory practices from federal scrutiny.”
The DOJ did not specify which specific “viral videos.” But in recent months, Accuracy in Media, a nonprofit organization, has posted videos using fake prospective students and hidden cameras to prod university personnel about DEI practices.
In multiple videos, the fake students met with professors and administrators by posing as “progressive” students looking for a school culture that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
