The “dangerous” 103-year-old Edwards Hotel in Old Town Peoria appears bound for demolition after plans to convert it into a spooky-themed vacation rental never materialized and it faced foreclosure.
The threat of demolition has loomed over the unique building off 83rd Drive and Washington Street for years. Dan Halbert saved the property from the wrecking ball when he bought it in 2017 and worked with the city on redevelopment plans.
He promised to give the dilapidated structure a facelift. Records showed grand plans of turning it into a vacation rental spot with a haunted theme.
