The Chandler City Council has approved a new $79,580 expenditure to book hotel rooms for homeless and at-risk families and individuals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The effort is being done in conjunction with Maricopa County.
The latest expenditure would bring Chandler’s total spending for the program to $238,740 which started last year in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The pandemic housing program also includes on-site, 24/7 security at the hotels in the effort.
The $79,580 books 10 hotel rooms for homeless individuals and families through March 31.
The council approved the measure at its Feb. 25 meeting.
