An incomplete road into the Mountain Vista Ranch subdivision is finally going to be completed — even though not everybody is happy about it.
A controversial road extension of Sunrise Boulevard that would give Bell Road a second entrance into the central Surprise neighborhood appears on track after the Surprise City Council approved the final plat June 1 for a bungalow project that includes widening the road.
“I’m certain that adding this thoroughfare through Mountain Vista Ranch would be a major mistake on the city’s part,” Don Levy, a Mountain Vista Ranch resident and board member, told the planning and zoning commission two days after the city council’s vote. “It’s a recipe for disaster.”
But after years of sitting waiting with a right of way in place, the road will be extended to Vista Ranch Road to give cars another way in and out of the crowded neighborhood.
