A chance encounter in 2015 between two creative people from anterior walks of life has all the ingredients of an origin story fit for the silver screen — but first, the dynamic duo of sorts is looking to conquer the Big Apple.
Their vehicle — “¡Americano! A New Musical” — took the local theatre world by storm shattering attendance and ticket sales records for original work at The Phoenix Theatre Company.
Now, Phoenix public relations executive Jason Rose, the production’s producer, and Michael Barnard, its director, are taking their one-of-a-kind immigration story to the New World Stages in New York City.
“This is a story about perseverance and holding onto that strength and to believe in one’s self above all else,” Barnard told Independent Newsmedia days after the New York run was announced.
