FLORENCE — A large agricultural-style housing community, similar to Agritopia or Morrison Ranch in Gilbert, has been proposed for western Florence.

“I’m trying to do a nice quality product that has an agricultural theme, which is what this land was,” owner Chris Dobson told about 15 neighbors and other interested residents at a meeting Aug. 4 at the Florence Community Center. “Every little area has a theme, like a windmill, a cotton area. Another one might be a wheat area.”

Called C.D. Farms, the plan is for more than 2,200 homes on 656 acres off the corner of Adamsville and Plant roads. Commercial and multifamily areas are planned on the east and west ends. The community also includes six neighborhood parks.
