With debate off the table, Lake launches ‘Ask Me Anything’ events

By Nick Phillips || Arizona Capitol Times

When Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs finally officially said earlier this month that she won’t debate her GOP opponent Kari Lake, Lake quickly accused Hobbs of cowardice.

And Lake used the opportunity to brand a series of campaign stops as an “Ask Me Anything” tour, showing her willingness to face hard questions from Arizona voters.

The first three stops on the tour came earlier this week, and they featured Lake sitting down with friendly interviewers. On Tuesday evening, in front of a packed crowd of about 150 people at the American Way Smokehouse in Chandler, Lake took the stage with Matthew Martinez, her field manager.

Reading off a large white index card, Martinez asked the first question of the evening: “What are you going to do to fix our school system? How are you going to maintain and expand school choice?”
