Rep. Ruben Gallego officially announced Monday he is running for U.S. Senate, leaving his House seat up for grabs. Speculation has centered on several people, including several state lawmakers, who potentially are interested in running in the 3rd Congressional District.
The area, which includes a portion of Glendale and Phoenix neighborhoods like south Phoenix, Laveen and Maryvale, heavily favors Democrats.
Gallego, D-Ariz., is running for Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema seat, who is up for reelection in November 2024. He is an Iraq War veteran who was first elected to Congress in 2014.
