National furniture chain looking to build huge WV warehouse

Ashley Furniture is planing to expand to the southwest Valley by building a whopping 1 million-square foot warehouse in Avondale.

The development plan is moving forward with a vote by the city this year for the development of a new distribution, showroom and manufacturing facility in the West Valley, according to the city of Avondale.

Last Thursday, Avondale Mayor Kenn Weise said during the annual Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce meeting that Ashley Furniture will break ground “shortly” with the intention of creating an estimated 1,000 jobs for local residents.

Ken Chapa, Avondale Economic Development and Tourism director, said he is excited to bring this development to the city.

“Ashley Furniture’s future investment in the city provides our community quality jobs and investment from a nationally recognized brand. The single-site mixed-use design is an innovative approach to providing efficient customer service by combining manufacturing, warehouse, and showroom functions in one convenient location,” Chapa said.

Avondale officials expect the project to break ground with the new facilities sometime in 2024 with the city expected to vote on the project this summer.
