Avondale receives economic development award

Many businesses have come to Avondale to continue their respective growth alongside that of the city’s.

Because of that, Avondale has garnered a good reputation in the economic development field.

A recent conference in Tucson hosted by the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) recognized that reputation and awarded Avondale the Economic Development Organization of the Year for a Medium Community in 2023 at the its spring conference.

“I think it’s really a strong recognition, not just for the economic development team but for the whole city, city council, mayor, council and management team all the way down,” said Ken Chapa, economic development and tourism director for the city of Avondale.

“That’s really where the leadership starts. The fact that over the past few years, Avondale has really gotten this reputation of being just pro-business, aggressive and really the place to be regardless of the size of your business. I think that speaks volumes for the culture here in the city.”
