Surprise is well into the first month of its 60-day review for the latest draft of its General Plan 2040 Update, and residents can leave comments online through Aug. 30.
During the first two weeks of feedback, residents honed in on the planning the city’s future road network and more dialogue with local schools and developers, stated Planning Manager Jason Moquin in an email.
“Residents have noted that the plan is well designed and informative, have expressed that transportation planning is key, and have suggested greater collaboration with schools and a more walkable community,” Moquin said.
Before the resident comment period began June 30, the most recent draft went before the Surprise City Council at its June 20 work session.
Multiple councilors suggested that while the structure is solid, the draft plan needs to better highlight the city’s priority on transportation planning and water resources.
