The Scottsdale City Council voted unanimously during its Aug. 22 meeting to approve plans for a new three-story, high-end hotel located at 7300 N. Pima Road on the bones of the George Hotel.
The hotel has been doing business since the ‘60s and new owner Andre Golnazarian wants to update the facility to make it a luxury hotel with a focus on health and wellness. He wants to demolish one of the buildings on the 4.74-acre lot and put in a new building that would house 50 rooms. The building will step back from two stories to three away from homes near the site.
Golnazarian also wants to put in a new, one-story gym and cafe as well as a second pool. The existing lobby with have some expansions and a 34-room building will remain. The plan also calls for renovating and maintaining a small park on the site for residential users.
Golnazarian’s company would also repave nearby streets, curbs and sidewalks as well as add lighting. There would also be security circulating around the hotel.
